The IT department is responsible for:

  • The security of the school information systems and users.

  • Updating virus protection regularly.

  • Monitoring school computer activity.

  • Ensuring there are adequate firewalls.

  • Run reports to ensure there is an appropriate use of the school IT systems and report any safeguarding concerns to the DSL.

Post-pandemic, schools have reviewed their online teaching safety

The pandemic led to schools being online for months on end and this proved challenging for all schools, regardless of their IT infrastructure or online capability.

Questions to consider in partnership with your IT department post-pandemic

  • Should online lessons be synchronous or asynchronous?

  • What is the role of live streaming at your school?

  • How do we protect students when they join a meeting?

  • How do we ensure that those in a meeting are authorised to be there?

  • Should we insist on cameras and microphones being turned on?
