Audience

It is when leaders work together with staff to collaborate, build shared values, and develop a common vision and understanding that our collective efficacy can have the greatest impact on student outcomes. Building a common language is part of this process. We use terms in this guide that may have different connotations across contexts.

This guide is intended for school leaders, so what do we mean by ‘school leaders’?

Principals/Heads of Schools/Deputy Heads: These are usually members of the senior leadership team.

PD Directors/Academic Directors: These can be senior leaders or middle leaders depending on school contexts.

Middle Leaders: These are staff members upon whom the senior leadership team relies for execution of strategic actions.

Team Leaders: These can be leaders of a group at any level who empower collective and individual goals.

Teacher Leaders: These are peer leaders who enhance their potential effectiveness based on their credibility within the eyes of their peers.

*We invite you to apply the terms above as appropriate according to your context.
