Command Terms and Vertical Planning

Within your department discuss:

  • What each command term would look like at certain grade levels to scaffold understanding and skill development.

  • If assessment tasks and criterion strands are closely connected with command terms, this should be a natural extension of the above.

  • How command terms and ATL development could be incorporated into report card comments focusing on skill development. This could include student reflection on command terms and ATLs that are incorporated into student reports.

Generate:

  • A common understanding of the connectivity of command terms, assessment and feedback.

  • Good practice for developing these areas consistently across the department.
