Command Terms in eAssessment Questions (MYP)

Whether you are completing eAssessments at the end of MYP Year 5 or planning final exams in general, including eAssessment style questions is another practical way of showing students how command terms can assist in responding to a variety of questions.

The MYP eAssessments use command terms explicitly to prompt student responses and knowing these terms is essential for student success.

Below are example eAssessment questions from Individuals and Societies with the command terms highlighted in purple. Think about using these styles of questions on your own tests, quizzes, and exams.

Formulate a clear and focused research question through which you can explore the statement of inquiry above. (CRITERION B)

Justify how your research question will allow you to explore the statement of inquiry. (CRITERION B)

Describe how your research question is related to one related concept. (CRITERION A)

Outline the challenges you may face while carrying out your investigation. (CRITERION B)

Explain the importance of studying Global Interactions in Social Studies. (CRITERION C)

With reference to origin, purpose and content, analyse the value and limitations of Source A for a student studying the concept of RESOURCES. (CRITERION D)

Using Source A and your own knowledge, summarise how oil has caused conflicts throughout the 20th century. (CRITERION D)
