# Introduction to IB Authorization & Evaluation

The IB offers four international programmes of study, which are the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Career-related Programme (CP). Schools that wish to offer any of the IB programmes go through an authorisation (which to many is known as accreditation) and evaluation (also known as re-accreditation) process.

{% hint style="success" %}
Both aspects of the authorisation and evaluation process are centred on **appreciative inquiry, professional reflection and celebratory in nature.**
{% endhint %}

Yes, that’s right! School communities have the opportunity to reflect on who they are, where they are (context), and what they are doing through the IB’s 2020 programme standards and practices (PSP). Trust me, the ways in which schools implement the PSP can differ from school to school. This is all echoed through the IB’s developmental standards of ‘Purpose’, ‘Environment’, ‘Culture’ and the heart of it all, ‘Learning’!

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://guide.fariaedu.com/preparing_for_ib_evaluation_or_authorisation/introduction-to-ib-authorization-and-evaluation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
