Introduction to IB Authorization & Evaluation

The IB offers four international programmes of study, which are the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Career-related Programme (CP). Schools that wish to offer any of the IB programmes go through an authorisation (which to many is known as accreditation) and evaluation (also known as re-accreditation) process.

Both aspects of the authorisation and evaluation process are centred on appreciative inquiry, professional reflection and celebratory in nature.

Yes, that’s right! School communities have the opportunity to reflect on who they are, where they are (context), and what they are doing through the IB’s 2020 programme standards and practices (PSP). Trust me, the ways in which schools implement the PSP can differ from school to school. This is all echoed through the IB’s developmental standards of ā€˜Purpose’, ā€˜Environment’, ā€˜Culture’ and the heart of it all, ā€˜Learning’!
