What are visit teams looking for?

From a visiting team perspective, prior to the visit they review the school’s submitted documents and any previous school reports to get a picture of the school and where it is at with its IB journey.
Visit teams engage in appreciative inquiry to learn about the work you do and the positive impact the programme is having on you, your subject area, students and parents. Your school community!
They simply want to identify and highlight programme strengths and opportunities for further development keeping your school roles and contributions in mind.
They look for evidence related to the PSPs and implementation of the programme. For example, evidence of student work or displays, portfolios, assessed work, student reflections, displays of student work, the learner profile in action, student/teacher collaboration, unit planners, programme of inquiry, curriculum overviews, differentiation and how technology and resources are used (virtual, physical and human).
Visit teams are keen on capturing what is working well, highlighting your success and celebrations. So remember to have this all in mind and to keep it short and sweet given the time allocated for your meetings.
They are also looking at elements of practices and areas, which may have opportunities for further or future development. Take note of these areas and have them ready to share with the team when necessary.
Remember to also liaise and connect with your programme coordinator who will help and guide you with the process.
