Creativity, Activity and Service
During your IB Diploma Programme you will undertake a variety of Creativity, Activity and Service experiences and at least one CAS project.
You undertake CAS experiences continuously for at least 18 months of your IB Diploma Programme.
CAS is not academic work and so it is assessed differently to the other components of the IB Diploma Programme. There are no points for CAS but without meeting the requirements you do not earn an IB diploma.
There are seven learning outcomes that you need to show you have met during your CAS programme. These seven learning outcomes (LOs) are:
# | Learning Outcome | ManageBac Abbreviation |
1 | Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth | Strength & growth |
2 | Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process | Challenge & skills |
3 | Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience | Initiative & planning |
4 | Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences | Commitment & perseverance |
5 | Demonstrate and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively | Collaborative skills |
6 | Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance | Global engagement |
7 | Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions | Ethics of choices & actions |
The LOs all have equal importance. You have to show that you have achieved all of them at least once, although you are likely to do them multiple times.
