One pivotal role that the coordinator undertakes is that of helping teachers understand the philosophy and framework of the PYP.

This will be an ongoing process and continue to evolve with practice and time. School coordinators often plan, facilitate and engage staff members in professional development within the context of the PYP.

Professional development should occur on a regular basis. It may involve the entire school community or more focused teacher groups. Collaboration with school leadership can ensure that a professional development throughout the school year is planned intentionally and with support.

Consider meeting with school leadership to schedule and vision sessions that will best support staff in their implementation of the PYP.
