Collaborative for Academic Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is an excellent resource based in the United States. If you are looking for a place to start to research this is an excellent starting point. They have identified the social and emotional skills needed to live a successful life. Their research includes brain functioning and methods of learning. CASEL have found that self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building and responsible decision making are the skills that all students should be able to demonstrate proficiently.
