A5.1 Thermoplastics
These soften when heated and harden when they cool. They do this this because their polymer chains are not joined and are only held in place by London forces. These forces are easily overcome by heating the polymer.
This can be done repeatedly, so it makes this type of polymer extremely easy to mould, extrude and recycle.
Examples include polyethene, polychloroethene, polypropene and nylon.
