Approaches to learning

Last updated 2 years ago

The approaches to learning are skills designed to enable students to 'learn how to learn.' They are intended to apply across curriculum requirements and provide a common language for teachers and students to use when reflecting and building on the process of learning.

The approaches to learning are situated within five skills, each with its set of sub-skills ().

As with both the key concepts and attributes of the learner profile, students will naturally utilize many of the approaches to learning throughout a given unit of inquiry.

To deepen student understanding and development of each of these skills, it is recommended to choose one or two approaches to learning on which to focus throughout the unit of inquiry. These will be embedded throughout the unit and across disciplines and can serve as a way to focus both academic and social-emotional learning.
