Reflecting

While it is recommended to engage in ongoing reflection throughout the unit of inquiry, upon completion, a more in-depth conversation about the effectiveness of the learning and teaching is an essential part of the process. This reflection can be beneficial for visioning units and learning engagements for the remainder of the current school year, and as importantly, for future iterations of the unit.

This is an opportunity to capture the successes and challenges that emerged throughout the unit and suggestions and possibilities for continual revision. Final reflections, most often are facilitated by a school’s PYP coordinator and can be effective when framed with a strengths-based approach.

This is a time to celebrate and champion what is working well for teachers and students! Consider how to recognize the assets that are attributed to the success of the unit while also acknowledging challenges and aspects of the unit that may benefit from innovation and change.
